Our server also records your IP address briefly, for one reason only: to stop the same machine flooding the form with spam.
To reply to you, and to keep a record of the conversation so that whoever picks it up next already knows what you asked. That is the whole purpose of the first consent box.
If you also tick the second box, we use the same details to send you occasional updates about Symbiont. Nothing else.
The form asks two different questions, because agreeing to be replied to is not the same as agreeing to be marketed at:
Neither box is ticked for you in advance. We store the exact sentence you agreed to and the date, so there is always a record of what was actually asked.
To stop updates at any time, reply STOP to any message, or write to [email protected]. It does not affect an enquiry already in progress.
Up to 36 months from the last time we heard from you, after which the enquiry is deleted. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will.

This website is a set of static pages. Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary to serve and protect the site, and those cannot be switched off without breaking it.
We use two analytics tools to understand how the site is used: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. They set cookies that record which pages you visit, roughly where you are (city level), your device and browser, and which links and buttons you click. Clarity also records an anonymised playback of how a page was used, with anything you type masked. We use these two only to improve the site.
We also use the Meta Pixel from Meta (Facebook and Instagram). This one is for advertising, not for improving the site, so we want to be straight about what it does: when you open a page here it tells Meta that a visit happened, and if you send us an enquiry it tells Meta that too. We use it to show our ads to people who may find Symbiont useful, and to see which ads actually led to an enquiry.
Unlike the two above, Meta may be able to connect that visit to your Facebook or Instagram account, because you are already signed in to them. We do not send Meta your name, email or phone number, and we do not join any of this to the details you send us through the contact form — but we cannot claim this one is anonymous, so we are not going to.
We do not sell any of this data. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on, you can control how Meta uses your activity in your Meta account settings under Ads, and you can block or clear these cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them does not stop you using this site or contacting us.
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiries are stored on our own servers with access limited to the people who need it to reply to you. No system is perfect, but we do not keep anything here that we do not need.
This form is for the people who run institutes. We do not ask for or knowingly collect any details about students through this website. If you believe a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.
If what we do changes — particularly if we start using analytics or advertising tools — we update this page and change the date at the top. We do not quietly widen what we already hold to new purposes.
